Support Data
When you request support through the web site or via email, you may optionally choose to submit log files, screenshot image files, and email data files (collectively, “Support Data”) to WKS. This Support Data typically contains personal information.
When your Support Data is submitted via our web site, https://weirdkid.com, it is submitted via a TLS-encrypted connection to a private CRM database owned by WKS but hosted in a secure third-party facility where other databases and web sites may be hosted. Our present hosting provider is A2 Hosting in Ann Arbor, MI, USA.
When Support Data is submitted via email, we ask you to use email accounts that are secured by SSL or TLS, to use message-level encryption like S/MIME, and to attach the Support Data to the email in a password-protected, encrypted file. These emails are delivered and held for delivery to us at our hosting provider where we download them via TLS-encrypted connections to our CRM database or to WKS technician computers for analysis.
Support Data submitted to WKS is never disclosed outside of the company unless required by law. Support Data submitted will be removed from WKS technician computers within one week of closing the support incident and will be removed from the WKS CRM database within one year of closing of the support incident. Requests for manual removal of submitted Support Data will be accommodated within one week of your request.
Software Activation Data
For our software products that require online activation, an activation request is performed when you enter a serial number to unlock our software, and may be repeated from time to time by already-activated software.
This information is collected to track how many times your serial number is used to unlock our software on different computers or license dongles. We need this information to ensure our software is being used per the terms of the license agreement.
The activation request consists of a single message sent over an encrypted connection to a WKS server located at our hosting provider. This data includes your serial number or registration key, the name associated with your registration key, the version number of the software, and a hardware identifier generated from unique attributes of the computer or license dongle (e.g. MAC address, serial number of storage device, and/or CPU serial number). The license name and hardware identifier are anonymized with a salted, one-way hashing algorithm prior to being stored. We also log an anonymized form of the IP address (only the network part) from where the activation request is made.
This information is never shared with third parties unless required by law.
Children’s Personal Information
WKS does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 16.
